The whole workflow, in order
Nine pages, real workshop photos, and the four decisions that keep cap and body reading as one piece of wood. Shown on a CrushGrind Diamond — the method works for every CrushGrind mechanism.
- 1
Three tenons before you separate
Cap and body come from one blank. The chucking tenons and the orientation mark are cut before anything is parted off.
- 2
Drill from both sides
The step most people get wrong. Both bores have to meet on the same axis, or the cap will never sit true.
- 3
A jam chuck for the cap
A locating tenon holds the cap while you shape it. No chuck marks, and the reference position stays intact.
- 4
Turn the outside as one assembly
Cap and body go back together and get their final form in a single setup. That is what keeps the grain running across the joint.

Moshe, DrehPunkt
I run a small woodturning workshop in Hergensweiler, between Lindau and Wangen in southern Germany. Four seats at a time, so I can stand next to everyone.
I came to the lathe from physiotherapy. That is probably why I teach the way I do — slowly, and with attention to what your hands are actually doing.
